I’m the mother of two boys who both have Celiac – an autoimmune disorder in which gluten (wheat, barley, oats, and rye) cause damage to their small intestines.
They were diagnosed at a young age which meant I had to do things differently.
I bought all the gluten-free breads, cereals, and pizzas their growing bodies could desire until, one day I took a closer look at the side of the boxes. Sheesh. Sure they were gluten-free, but they also had more fat, calories and sugar and less nutrients than their gluten-filled counterparts.
So once again, I did things differently.
I started experimenting at home. There was plenty of trial and error. You do not want to know what my kitchen looked like.
Eventually, I cracked the code with cauliflower, but grew frustrated by the time it took and the mess it made. Why should eating better be so hard? I figured others might feel the same and, so, created CAULIPOWER.
I tested CAULIPOWER with my focus group of two outspoken young boys (the ultimate test for pizza) and it passed with flying colors. Now that’s a powerful recipe – CAULIPOWERful.
CAULIPOWER CAN FUEL OUR FUTURE
As part of it’s mission, CAULIPOWER proudly supports OneSun and the fight against childhood obesity by contributing to the creation of vegetable gardens at underserved schools throughout the country.
Through a partnership with noted child-nutrition activist and health advocate Kelly Meyer, these gardens become real-life learning laboratories for students to learn what it means to be healthy.
First through fifth grade children learn how to plant seeds, nurture growing plants, harvest produce and ultimately understand the value of good eating habits, all while having fun in the fresh air and working with their hands under one sun.
